President George W. Bush

This post is going to be longer than mine usually are. I came across a video a friend had posted on facebook about President Bush. It truly brought tears to my eyes.

He was a GREAT president! I know he had his faults (every politician does), but I love the patriot in him. I love that he went after the terrorists, knowing it would be hard and long. But he went after them.

I know he loves this country. I know he did the hard thing even though he knew he would be criticized for it. Criticized for his choices. Criticized for his beliefs. Criticized for the war. Blamed for the healthcare "crisis" in America. Blamed for the economy. Blamed for shootings. Blamed for natural disasters.

I usually try to steer clear from politics. It is not a habit of mine to listen to talkradio and keep up with everything that's going on. I'm the type of person who wants to be informed enough to vote, and that's about it. But I'm going to stray from that for this post.

It makes me mad that Obama apparently doesn't have a birth certificate. It doesn't matter. If McCain didn't have one, would he have been able to run for President?

It makes me mad that some people voted for Obama based on a single issue. They want their social security, so they vote for Obama. Or they want nationalized healthcare, so they vote for Obama.

It makes me mad that just because Obama is black, he seemed to have the red carpet on everything. But Sarah Palin got criticized even for her wardrobe. I do not care that Obama is black. Skin color doesn't matter to me.

It makes me mad that Clinton was a disgrace while he was in office, but you hardly hear about that. Bush lived a moral life, but nobody ever has anything to say about him.

I hate that the media is supposed to report the news, but they make it. They make it what they want it to be. They make Bush look terrible and Obama look wonderful. It's so wrong!

We live in an unfair world. Now with my little Jackson and another baby on the way, it's so easy to get discouraged and ask, "Where's God?" But He's right here. Our beautiful country has placed herself in this mess. God is still in control of it all. That is such a comfort! Obama is a powerful man now, and will no doubt do great damage to this country. But he is a man. God is God!

During my college days, I once heard a preacher talking about the mission field. He said many people don't want to surrender to go because of their children. They don't want them to grow up in an unclean, wicked, dangerous place. But the children of Israel were in bondage for a long, long time. They kept having children. They raised them for God!

That's what I want to do. Raise little warriors for God! I know the road will be rough. Persecution could be just around the corner. But He is right there. I wish my children could grow up in a perfect nation, but it's not going to happen. If our ancestors could see these times, they would probably cringe. God has placed us in the right time.

Having said all that, let me say this: I do not dwell on these things. I hardly ever think of them. But I was stirred by this video. I love my nation. I am so thankful to be an American!

Hey Joy!! It's so funny that you found me, because I have wanted to contact you since I found your blog. I look at almost everyday! Thank you for your sweet comments. Ethan will actually be one in February, so he is very close to Jackson. I have commented to Dave sooo many times about how adorable Jackson is. I could type forever here, but probably shouldn't :). I would love it if we could talk. If you are interested my email is talishapalmer@yahoo.com. You Jamin and Jackson make a beautiful family and I'm so happy that the Lord is blessing you with another little one!!
